The recent violent crime wave that Dolton has experienced, along with the signs of corruption and apathy that are so prevalent in both our civic and faith communities, are only reminders and confirmation as to just how much people here, and everywhere really need the Lord.
In every area, and on every level, we can clearly see the need for a move of God's Spirit in Dolton that will only come through wide spread prayer and repentance; along with God's people rising up together to boldly declare His Kingdom and retake territory that seemingly has been lost. We are God's standard bearers...the army of God...the first to smite at the enemy...and we need to confront him boldly in every place he raises his ugly head. The Bible says:
So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59:19
We've been praying for our civic leaders, to include Mayor Ronnie C. Lewis and the village board; and we encourage you to continue to do so daily. Check our last blog post to see their email addresses, and let them know that you are praying for them on a daily basis. But we also want to remind them that they have a responsibility to govern with godly integrity; and to seek godly counsel as to how to address the needs of their people. Presently, we do not see that reflected in their approach to leadership...and that's a problem. Our prayer is for repentance or removal. Only God knows which it will be.
Let's now add prayer for revival among Dolton's pastors and spiritual leaders.
- Pray that they will lead the way in humility, repentance, and prayer (Joel 2:17).
- Pray that they will not be motivated by a fleshly desire of recognition, but that they will live and minister for the glory of God alone.
- Pray that God will protect their families from the attacks of Satan
- Pray that they will be faithful in proclaiming the truth of God's Word, and that they will not be bound by tradition or fear of men.
- Pray that they will be pure in life and doctrine (I Timothy 4:16).
