Prayer is Working in Dolton

Before we issue our prayer challenge for this week we'd like to share a praise report as to how God is answering our prayers for Dolton.

This week, Dolton Mayor Ronnie C. Lewis commissioned a task force to address the problems of underage drinking and tobacco use in the village of Dolton, IL. As many of you are aware, the Beloved Prayer Community has been praying and urging the village to work with groups like the South Suburban Prevention Coaliton and The Beloved Community Development Coalition to address youth access to packaged liquor from stores in the area.

Initially, we could not find common ground with the mayor, the village board, or the Dolton Youth Commission from which we could work together on the issue. We took it to the Lord in prayer, and God has worked out a marvelous reconciliation between us.

God's grace has not only allowed us to become unified behind the desire to protect our youth from easy access to packaged liquor, but has also allowed us to work closely together on issues concerning the school board, presenting a NASA Youth Program, and the Septemember 4th Sexual Abstinence Rally. Because of prayer, we can see the walls of division beginning to crumble. Amen.

Now, our prayer word for the week from Pastor Ed Domagal:

The western church sleeps through prayer time and collapses in evangelism. The Korean Church prays all night and then sweeps through the natlion with the gospel, seeing 25% of the nation come to Christ during the last century. While the Christian church in the third world expands at these amazing rates, American Christians, in spite of great effort and financial expense, have not seen a single county in the United States grow in the net number of Christians in the past two decades.

"Nowhere is more Christian literature published, nowhere are more crusades, christian radio and TV, seminars on evangelism, than in Canada and the the U.S.A. And nowhere (apart from Europe) are these major thrusts less productive." Like the disciples in the Garden, we sleep when we should be praying and suffer the consequences acccordingly.

Brother's and Sister's in Christ, join us this Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. 14806 Chicago Rd. Abundant Life Ministries, as we continue our Joshua prayer drive around Dolton. We are circling the city in vehicles for 7 weeks while praying for God's Spirit to move powerfully throughout the city. We are at the half way point. Come and join us for the final 3 weeks.
