"And The Walls Will Crumble"

"Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you." Joshua 3:5

It's hard to imagine that any one of us who name the Name of the Lord has not at some point felt as though we were besieged and/or trapped behind impenetrable barriers in our personal and spiritual lives. Whether those barriers seemed intended for locking in or locking out, we all have had need for God to come through powerfully for us to eradicate barriers that would potentially keep us from realizing His divine purpose and will for our lives.

In leading God's people, Joshua experienced first hand the challenges of crossing barriers that stood in between God's people and His promise. And even though these barriers at times seemed insurmountable, Joshua and the Israelites repeatedly witnessed first hand that the Lord was more than able to breach every one of them.

In Joshua chapter one God told him, "Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses."

In spite of the fact that there was a river, large armies, and entrenched wickedness ahead of them, Joshua believed the Lord Who told him: "No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.

Throughout our communities we see walls and barriers erected everywhere. And even though most of them are not bricks and mortar or even raging rivers, they can be just as limiting to our possessing the land and establishing God's Kingdom if we - the Church of Jesus Christ- become faithless and allow those walls to go unchallenged.

The walls that people build around their hearts that lock Jesus out and evil in must be destroyed. The walls that separate the Household of Faith from one another must come down. That walls of fear that evil men in both high and low places would erect to imprison the body of Christ must be revealed to be paper thin and not able to withstand God's righteous church. Jesus said that "upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matt. 16:18

So what is the wrecking ball that will break us through to victory? It's prayer! It's powerful, persistent, and faith believing prayer that will move God on our behalf. It will take fasting together, praying together, and tarrying together until the Lord answers as only He can. It will take putting ourselves in the position of not being distracted by the circumstances around us while focusing squarely on the miraculous means by which the Lord will deliver us, and destroy the walls that are keeping many imprisoned.

"Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.

God lets some people in to freedom and some people out to freedom-but freedom still, because through Christ all walls fall down. "For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility..."

Just as Joshua saw the walls of Jericho come crashing down, we can also see our own walls crumble in ruins if we will trust and believe.

As an outward sign that we know that God can and will do this for our city, we will circle the perimeter of Dolton, IL in cars once a week for seven weeks beginning on October 16, 2010 as a sign of active faith.

This weeks wall: "The Wall of Spiritual Wickedness"

We will gather at the Abundant Life Center, 14806 Chicago Road in Dolton at 09:45 a.m. For more details please call The Beloved Prayer Community at 708.856.9043.
